Sony FX30 · DJI RS3 · DJI Mini 3
60 fps · 1/125 · f/7.1+ · manual Kelvin per zone · move half as fast as feels natural · shoot everything twice · review before leaving
Identify it before shooting. First AND last shot must point to it — ocean, view, pool, whatever defines this property.
Longest, slowest move in the edit. Must land on the music's biggest beat. The largest emotional moment closes the video.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Format | 4K · 10-bit |
| Frame rate | 60 fps |
| Shutter | 1/125 — locked always |
| Aperture | f/7.1 or higher |
| ISO | Lowest that exposes correctly |
| White balance | Manual Kelvin per zone — never AWB |
| Focus | AF-C wide area |
| Zebras | 95–100% — windows only, never walls |
| ND filter | None by default — carry one as backup |
One zone — ~5200–5600 K. Confirm on white wall or grey card before rolling.
Its own zone — ~3200–3800 K. Mixed light: bias toward dominant source, or switch warm accents off.
Confirm WB on a white wall at the start of every new zone before rolling.
Expose for the space the shot is about. Interior + large exterior view: expose the interior — a slightly hot exterior reads as airy, not blown. Lock exposure manually per shot. Never let it pump during a move.
Open up only when BOTH conditions are true:
① It is a mid or tight detail shot
② Holding aperture would push ISO to visible grain
One condition alone is not enough. Never open up on wide shots.
NDs can streak on windows, shower glass, and mirrors — cannot fix in post. Remove before going back inside.
Lens, hood, card, battery, all accessories attached. Everything else removed. Rebalance after any change. Poor balance = jitter, overheating, dead batteries.
What feels too slow on location reads correctly in the edit. Ninja walk: heel-to-toe, knees bent, elbows tucked.
Shoot every move twice. Hold static 2–3 sec at start and end. Check level. Clear the path. Check every mirror and reflective surface for your own reflection before rolling.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Format | 4K · highest bitrate |
| Frame rate | 30 fps (4K max) |
| Shutter | 1/60 — raise only if OE |
| ISO | 100 daylight — never raise in sun |
| White balance | AWB |
| ND filter | Bright sun: fit ND. Indoors: remove |
| Flight mode | Cine mode |
Hold static 2–3 sec at each end. Fly every pattern twice. Shoot aerials last — facade lit, not backlit.
Scout the flight path before any backwards or sideways movement. The Mini 3 will not warn you.
